Come and try shooting with 18th Battalion Memorial Rifle Club
If you would like to try target shooting and you are not sure where to start, you are welcome to join us on a Sunday and participate in one of our target shooting matches.

Allow for ½ a day – from 8:30am to noon.
The range program can be found HERE – so have a look and choose a date. Once you have chosen a date, give James Taylor, 18Bn Club Captain a call on 0418 600626 to introduce yourself.

On the day – you will need.
- Hat
- Closed shoes
- Photo ID (or if you have a current firearms licence – bring that too)
- Cash or Card – to pay the range fees and purchase of ammunition (about $75 to $90 total, this is dependant on the calibre rifle you shoot)
Meet at our clubhouse at 8:30am, there is some paperwork to do first and a safety briefing induction/introduction to the range. Please review the safety briefing and introduction to the range HERE.
Please read the safety briefing induction/introduction to the range carefully and bring a copy to the range when you attend. If there is anything you do not understand or would like clarification – please ask on the day.
If you do not have a firearms licence, you will need to complete a P650 form. Click HERE for all info about the P650 form from NSW Firearms Registry.
18Bn will supply:
- Hearing protection (if you have your own please bring it along)
- Range and safety briefing, basic shooting tuition and supervision
- Ammunition and a club rifle
All members and visitors also do butts duty. This is manning the targets in the butts area of the range and scoring the targets for the shooters on the shooting mound. The target mechanisms are mechanical and require some physical effort to operate. For a overview/safety briefing of the target mechanisms and how to score the targets, please click HERE. Minors (between 12 and 18 years) are also allowed to shoot – however they must be accompanied by a supervising parent/guardian.
Once you have visited a few times and participated in some matches, you then have the opportunity to submit an application for membership. Click HERE for the membership application form.
